Interactive - Share Your Opinion - Parallel Love Stories
These are couples that remind us in one way or another of Edward and Bella. No, they're not exactly the same, but they do share similarities. Take a look and see if you agree!
If you know of a couple whose love story is similar to Edward and Bella's, please
let us know and we will post it on this page!
Belle and the Beast from "Beauty and the Beast":
Belle is pursued by the arrogant Gaston who believes he is the most deserving of her, but she dreams of something more than just her simple village life. When circumstances throw her into the path of the Beast, she finds out exactly what she was meant for. Under a curse, the beast cannot see himself as anything but the horrid monster he looks like and spends most of his time angry at the world, until Belle shows him that he may be human after all.
James and Vesper from "Casino Royale":
James Bond was a killing machine through and through, with no emotional attachments to anyone and never believing himself even capable of such feelings. When he is forced to work with Vesper Lynd, he discovers a side of himself that he never knew existed. When she is traumatized after witnessing his ruthless style of killing, he comforts her and finds himsef wanting to protect her more than anything else. Losing her in the end sealed up his heart for good.
Pacey and Joey from "Dawson's Creek":
Pacey and Joey never expected to fall for each other, but fall they did. When Joey's best friend Dawson discovered their relationship, he sought to win back Joey by manipulating her and giving her ultimatums. Pacey, being selfless and wanting Joey's happiness above all else, refused to make her choose. He stood back and let her sort out her feelings and in the end she knew no amount of manipulation from Dawson could shake what she knew all along - Pacey is the one for her.
Robert and Giselle from "Enchanted":
Giselle thought she would be happy living in a fairy tale, but when she stumbles into the real world and meets complicated, cynical Robert, she begins experiencing emotions (like anger!) that she never knew existed. And while Robert has lived a life full of disappointing reality, Giselle makes him believe maybe there is such a thing as a happy ending. In the end Giselle chooses to remain in the real world with Robert, knowing true love is worth the hardships of being in 3-D.
Bright and Hannah from "Everwood":
Bright never thought he would fall in love. Hannah was attracted to Bright right away, but never thought that someone like her could attract someone like him. When Bright falls for Hannah, he realizes there may be more to life than just breezing through after all. He wanted to be a better person because she saw something in him, and he wanted to be good enough for her. And in turn, Bright's love for Hannah helped her to see that she was always beautiful and worthy of him.
Eric and Ariel from "The Little Mermaid":
Ariel always felt out of place in her world. When she sees Eric aboard his magnificent ship, she realizes maybe she was meant to be with him and part of the human world instead of the underwater world she's known her whole life. She takes great lengths to be with him, knowing in her heart it's right, at the displeasure of her father and Sebastian. In the end, though she had to leave her family and friends behind, she chooses to become human and stay with her true love.
Henry and Catherine from "Northanger Abbey":
Henry was a total gentleman who found Catherine's wide-eyed innocence and charm completely refreshing. Catherine buried herself in old books and was prone to letting her imagination get away from her. He befriended her and watched over her, but wasn't unwilling to tease her about her silly overactive imagination. Though she was manipulated by ambitious social climbers and his disapproving father, in the end they realized they are just right for each other.
Noah and Allie from "The Notebook":
Noah and Allie fell passionately in love as teens despite the disapproval of her parents, but after they were separated by her scheming mother, Allie
found herself engaged to a nice guy her parents approved of. And though Lon truly loved her and she could see herself
living an easy, full and even happy life with him, upon seeing Noah again she knew her heart still remained with him. She chooses to return to her first and true love, forgoing the easy choice for the right one.
Raoul and Christine from "The Phantom of the Opera":
Raoul and Christine were childhood friends who fell in love when they reunited as young adults. Raoul loved Christine fully and selflessly, and when she got drawn into the Phantom's dark web, he did all he could to save her, even if at times his actions came off as overprotective or controlling. The Phantom gave Christine an ultimatum - choose him or he will kill Raoul, but ultimately realized he could not manipulate her into loving him when she loves another; and he at last let the young lovers go.
Landon and Jamie from "A Walk to Remember":
Landon never took life seriously or felt much of a connection to anything. He was on a fast downward spiral when he met Jamie, who seems to see some good in him and sets out to bring it out of him, no matter how much he tries to push her away at first. When he goes to her for help with learning lines from a play, he falls for her against his will. She quickly changes his outlook on life, his attitude towards others, etc. Jamie made Landon a better man and he was forever grateful.
Scott and Jean from "X-Men":
When new girl Jean arrives, all the X-Men vie for her attention, but she falls for quiet, brooding team leader Scott, whose entire life had revolved around the X-Men and never thought he was meant for a great love. When their relationship is established, absolutely nothing can come between them, not death or alternate uiverses or Jean's close friendship and attraction to Wolverine. Scott and Jean have always been and will always remain the heart of the X-Men.
